Kim Kardashian and the Best Dressed Celebrities at the 2022 CFDA Awards

Dubbed the “Oscars of Fashion,” the annual CFDA red carpet has always demanded some of the best A-list looks, and this year was certainly no different.

The event, held at Casa Cipriani in New York last night, recognizes the artistic achievements of American designers, creative directors and innovators. Therefore, the dress code commands the extraordinary (think Rihanna’s signature shimmering nude dress in 2014).

For this year’s iteration, reality TV star Kim Kardashian honored her momentous Innovator Award win for her fitness and loungewear brand Skims with a form-fitting latex strapless dress from Dolce & Gabanna. It was a nod to his recent collaboration with the Italian luxury brand, which got close to the infamous family this year – in June they also unofficially sponsored Kourney and Travis Kardashian-Barker’s wedding in Portofino.

Also in attendance was Uncut Gems star Julia Fox, who paired her subversive cut-out dress all over the torso that displayed embellished lingerie with wet-look gray hair. “It’s a love letter to growing old,” Fox said on the red carpet. We accept to grow old. The fashion icon attended the ceremony with former Selling Sunset star Christine Quinn, who was dressed in a black tuxedo dress highlighted with cream feathers by designer Christian Cowan.

Of course, 2022 Fashion Icon Award recipient Lenny Kravitz had to take his best step forward, which he did with a black ensemble remixed by LaQuan Smith. The disruptive costume featured a custom suit with a feather boa lapel and matching leather pants. “I reached out to LaQuan after admiring his work for a while and we met in person just days ago to vibe,” Kravitz explains. “We had instant chemistry and creativity right away. I love his vision and look forward to working together in the future. The fact that I am the first to wear creations he made for men is an honor.

Whether it’s a growing awareness of fashion’s need for environmentally damaging novelty or a desire for individualistic style in the face of Instagram’s homogeneity, vintage red carpet looks have dominated the red carpet This year. In keeping with the enduring trend, Kylie Jenner delved into Thierry Mugler’s ’90s archives and attended dressed in a stunning one-shoulder pleated semi-sheer dress from the designer’s Fall 1999 collection.
